It was a moment of joy and celebration as the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, paid a special visit to “Esa Ndidia,” a budding local food business owned by Blessing Gabriel Emah, as the enterprise marked its first anniversary. The visit, which drew smiles and emotional gratitude, became more than a courtesy call—it turned into a powerful message of encouragement for young entrepreneurs striving to build something meaningful from humble beginnings.
Esa Ndidia, known for its rich local delicacies and cultural presentation of Akwa Ibom cuisine, has in just one year grown into a recognizable food spot within its community, earning loyal patronage through consistency and quality. From steaming plates of afang soup to carefully prepared ekpang nkukwo and other indigenous meals, the business has become a quiet ambassador of cultural pride and culinary identity.
Speaking during the visit, Lady Obareki praised Blessing’s resilience and creativity, describing her journey as a reflection of what happens when passion meets opportunity. She noted that small and medium-scale enterprises remain central to economic empowerment, especially for women, adding that government support structures exist to help such dreams thrive when properly nurtured.
“We came out to support a local business that is big on culture and showcasing the rich heritage of Akwa Ibom. We enjoyed a variety of indigenous delicacies and everything was truly delicious. We are happy that a daughter of the soil who benefited from training through Ibom LED has taken the initiative to establish a place as beautiful as this to showcase the true heritage and culture of Akwa Ibom State”, she said.
She further encouraged young people across the state to embrace entrepreneurship, stressing that sustainable success often begins with small, determined steps. According to her, initiatives like Esa Ndidia align strongly with the vision of the ARISE Agenda, which promotes enterprise, skills development, and inclusive growth. Her words carried both warmth and conviction as she urged youths to believe in their hands and their ideas.
A visibly emotional Blessing Gabriel Emah expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing the visit as a life-changing morale boost that reaffirmed her commitment to the business. The Coordinator was accompanied by members of the First Family and staff of the Office of the First Lady, including protocol officer Mrs. Mercy Peters, who also joined in celebrating the milestone visit.
