President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on the newly inaugurated board and management of the South South Development Commission to embark on impactful and sustainable projects that will improve the living standards of people in the region.
Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Commission’s leadership, Senator Akpabio described their mandate as a major responsibility toward driving inclusive growth and implementing economic development programmes in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He commended President Tinubu for establishing the Commission and praised the National Assembly for the prompt passage of the SSDC Bill, despite earlier concerns about its functions overlapping with the Niger Delta Development Commission.
In her remark, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, lauded Senator Akpabio’s visionary leadership and assured that the Commission would prioritise both human capital development and infrastructure renewal across the South South region.
