The President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has appointed Akparawa Joseph Edet Udofia, an indigene of Aka Ekpeme Village in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, as Senior Legislative Aide.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated 24th April 2026 and signed by the Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development Directorate of the National Assembly, Adm. Essien Eyo Essien, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly.
Udofia currently serves as the Ikono Chapter Coordinator of the Movement of the People for Godswill Obot Akpabio (MOP), a political support group established to mobilise grassroots support for the Senate President.
Speaking with Explicit News, Udofia expressed gratitude to Senator Akpabio for finding him worthy of the appointment and the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to justify the trust placed in him and assured supporters that he would intensify mobilisation efforts towards the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other All Progressives Congress candidates in Akwa Ibom State.
Udofia commended the Senate President’s leadership style, describing it as inclusive and people-centred. He also praised Akpabio’s performance in office and expressed optimism that the appointment would further strengthen grassroots engagement and support for the party across the state.
He further lauded Governor Umo Eno for aligning Akwa Ibom State with the Federal Government, noting that the move would help attract greater development opportunities and benefits to the state.
Udofia also extolled the contributions of Envoy Nsentip Akpabio, Co-Founder of the Movement of the People for Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Obong Hon. Joseph Tombere, the group’s Founder, for their commitment to the growth of the organisation and their efforts in mobilising support for the Senate President across Akwa Ibom State.
He thanked Senator Akpabio for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to effective service in his new capacity.
