In her commitment to participate actively in the 2027 general elections, the Non-Indigenes Association in Akwa Ibom State, has announced a massive Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) Sensitization Rally aimed at encouraging all residents to register and obtain their PVCs.
The rally, scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, will commence from Itam Market, Uyo, with immediate PVC registration to follow at the Non-Indigene Secretariat, B Line, Ewet Housing Estate.
The initiative, itself a brainchild of the Coordinator of Non-Indigene Association, Amb. Sunday Usikhifo , reflects the growing resolve of non-indigenes resident in the state to play an active role in shaping the state’s political future.
Addressing a team of organizers on Monday, Usikhifo noted that the exercise is designed to ensure that every non-indigene is equipped with a PVC and ready to participate effectively in the 2027 elections.
“Our enthusiasm stems from the inclusive leadership style of Governor Umo Eno, whose administration has continued to provide a conducive environment for businesses and residents, irrespective of ethnic or state of origin”, he noted.
The leadership of the organization described the Eno’s administration as one that has fostered unity, expanded opportunities, and given non-indigenes a genuine sense of belonging in Akwa Ibom State.
With the rally expected to attract participants from various non-indigene communities across the state, the organizers expressed confidence that the mobilisation will translate into increased voter participation and stronger civic engagement, while reaffirming their appreciation for the inclusive governance that has made Akwa Ibom a welcoming home for all.
Beyond the voter sensitization exercise, leaders of the non-indigene community noted that their population in Akwa Ibom State continues to grow significantly as more Nigerians relocate to the state in search of peace, security, and business opportunities.
They attribute this steady influx to the inclusive policies of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, which have created an enabling environment where people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds can live, work, and thrive without discrimination.
The community expressed confidence that, with their growing numerical strength, now estimated to run into hundreds of thousands, they will constitute a formidable voting bloc in the 2027 elections and contribute substantially to the democratic process in appreciation of the administration’s inclusive governance.
